Review of The Purple Rose of Cairo (1985) by Frank J — 30 May 2012
I loved this, and can see it potentially becoming a favourite of mine. It is at times very funny, very sweet, very romantic, and very sad. Mia Farrow is so likeable in it you can well imagine a film star coming down off screen and falling in love with her.
I think it's perhaps the most complete of Woody Allen's films that don't star him, and one of his very best scripts.
