Review of The Postman Always Rings Twice (1946) by Jeff B — 27 Jul 2011
"The Postman Always Rings Twice" entertains its audience with a tale of attempted murder gone awry, and of course imposes the Hays' code staunch morality lest the audience should have any mistaking that what the two leads (John Garfield and Lana Turner) are doing is wrong.
Turner and Garfield enjoy great chemistry with each other, and the characters that they play are motivated so much by their feelings for each other over money that it makes this noir more emotionally complex than most.
