Review of The Place Promised in Our Early Days (2004) by Chris C — 20 May 2008
Makoto Shinkai's sophomore effort avoids the few animation problems from Voices of a Distant Star, while losing none of the emotional pathos. The film is very similar to his other works, just extended to a full length film.
Its a talky film, and would seem quite slowly paced for those seeking action. However, the emotional payoff is terrific. It is not excusable to miss this film if you are already of Shinkai's others.
