Review of The Pink Panther (1963) by Nate W — 04 Dec 2008
The biggest problem with "The Pink Panther" is that it does not have enough of Inspector Clouseau. Peter Sellers' bumbling ineptitude seems natural and unforced, and he is the best thing about this movie.
Sadly, the whole film still lacks the comedic energy needed to make it laugh-out-loud funny. An excess of still or slow-moving shots as well as Henry Mancini's overly-relaxing music (which is great to listen to on its own) lull the viewer into a mood that is not condusive to laughter.
