Review of The Pianist (2002) by Jerome K — 11 Nov 2011
I think these WWII dramas aren't having quite the impact on me as they're supposed to since I've seen so many of them in the past few months. Still, it's nice to see yet another unique perspective, this time thru the eyes of a Polish pianist.
It's easy to see why Adrian Brody won a Oscar for his performance, as he excellent portrays the desperation and hopelessness of what's happened to him. It's hard for me to say much about the rest of the film because it seems like these WWII films are a dime a dozen.
They're all excellently acted and directed, with powerful screenplays. So far, I haven't seen one that wasn't tackled with great tact and skill in showing how cruel humanity can be. (Perhaps that's also my fault for choosing to watch critically acclaimed films in the first place, lol).
Anyway, if you're in the mood to see another depressing WWII film, you can't go wrong with The Pianist.
