Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by David E — 19 Apr 2011
If you can put up with opera musicals and a lack of continuity this is a great movie. I say that there is a lack of continuity because of the fact that the Phantom looks different in almost every scene, in one he is missing an ear and has boils all over it then ten minutes later his face is just a little red and his ear is intact, in one part when he has his mask on he has black hair and right when he takes of his mask his hair is white.
I don't really mind this, but I just wish that there was a little less of these changes. But disregarding this, the movie is really good, I really enjoyed all the music it was pretty catchy. I could catch myself humming the masquerades song.
Another thing that I enjoyed from this film was the camera movement that could just by itself portray the mood of the movie. And one last thing (I feel like I'm making a list) it's hard not to like the fact that unlike the older version in this version you see a more human and sensible Phantom that is also more likable than the past one.
