Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by Grace H — 18 Jul 2011
I loved this movie! It was beautiful, tragic, and romantic and sexy.
Gerard Butler, may have been too young and handsome to play the Phantom, but he portrayed the role all too well, and despite never being professionally trained,I would have thought the opposite because his voice was so amazing, and Rossum and him sounded so beautiful and angelic together.
Emmy Rossum was the perfect Christine Daae too! She definitely had the voice of a true heavenly angel! I loved the way Rossum portrayed Christine's sheltered, safe, sweet and pure side conflicting with her darker, more rebellious, passionate and desirous side which faces her with her difficulty of choosing between Raoul and Erik(A.K.A. The Phantom of the Opera).
Despite, having mixed feelings for the character, and thinking him rather foppish,I have to say that I loved Patrick Wilson's dashing, more masculine portrayal of Raoul de Chagny. I have to say, that although,Gerard Butler and Emmy Rossum had more chemistry,Wilson looked really cute with Rossum as well, besides I loved their "All I Ask of You"duet. Wilson is really talented and he sounds great singing with Rossum.
