Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by William B — 15 Sep 2013
The singing talent from the entire cast is amazing, truly doing justice to the composing genius of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Patrick Wilson and Emmy Rossum's performance of All I Ask Of You was particularly good.
I found the Phantom to be a very addictive character; I couldn't help but sympathise for his tragic life, both as a child and as an adult. However, I may be missing the point of the film, but I felt like it was a bit too slow and at times lacklustre.
It is nevertheless a very good adaptation of the highly successful stage musical.
