Review of The Phantom of the Opera (2004) by Liamexe — 09 Jul 2022
The 2004 film adaption of The Phantom of the Opera is adequate and, to some extent, effective. The musical sequences and songs are presented with great amusement and are sung extremely well. The clothing design is absolutely perfect and appropriate for the era.
The writing is effective for the movie; certainly, it could have been better, but it is effective nonetheless. Although not quite Oscar-caliber, the acting is nevertheless quite impressive. Everyone, including Patrick Wilson, does a fantastic job in their roles.
I firmly believe that the Academy was correct to nominate them for three Academy Awards, and I believe they ought to have taken home at least one of them.
