Review of The Phantom of the Opera (1925) by Joel W — 04 Jun 2007
This has been remade many times, but none of them have even come close to the caliber of the original. No one in film has ever come close to the skill of Lon Chaney. His makeup talent in 1925 rivals that of today.
There is so much in this movie that deserves attention. This film is in the public domain, but be careful since there are different versions of the film. The best version is the one that TCM plays around Halloween.
This film is more than deserving of anyone's attention. You will not be disappointed if you watch it.
