Als first commercial film and as per Francis Ford Coppola the reason he was offered the role of Michael Coleone in the Godfather. Apparently movie execs only watched 8 mins of this gritty drama about a bunch of heroin addicts and with that they knew they had the right man.
Harrowing and unrelenting.
