Review of The Omen (1976) by Vicky E — 01 Feb 2014
It's not perfect by any means, but definitely one of the better horror films i've seen. it is dated in some ways - the music is overpowering and excessive at times, and the acting, especially by peck, feels archaic and melodramatic, but I think the film benefited from not relying too much on special effects (as the exorcist had done) because it can, even now, strike some semblance of fear in its audience.
there were logical plot-holes and not everything was justified as thoroughly as it could have been, but in the end, it definitely created the effect it set out to.
