Review of The Notebook (2004) by Dan I — 15 Sep 2015
Unfortunately the beginning of the end of the romance films that actually worked, this movie has since transitioned into a state of near parody but if it's viewed objectively it's not a terrible film and a lot of the elements truly work.
The chemistry between Gosling and McAdams is invigorating, the story between Garner and Rowlands is heart wrenching, and the visual storytelling does a great job of translating a narrative to the screen.
