Review of The Namesake (2006) by Steve H — 28 Mar 2012
One of my favorite novels turned into a film with one of my favorite performances by an actor ever. Irrfan Khan in The Namesake is a study for actors to how to transform yourself into a character so completely that the character is revealed in subtleties.
The younger cast can't measure up and Kal Penn isn't at all how I imagined Gogol, with who I felt an extraordinary kinship. Watching the film made me miss Cal.
