Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Volo M — 04 Feb 2010
This a visually very impressive film, if one likes dark scapes and shadows, but sadly none of the themes I would assume the original The Name of the Rose to have had come out in an interesing way. It is too slow and relaxed for a murder mystery, the highlighted topic of love is, after all, of secondary interest and the philosophical level is barely touched.
I am disappointed, but at least it was about the Middle Ages...
