Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Eden L — 23 Aug 2007
The film adaptation of a book about books can't help but lose in the translation. Lacking the epistemological dance, the labyrinthine escapades, the historical name-dropping, and all the good lines, we're just left with a bunch of dead monks in a monastery. Sean Connery is no a Benedict-- I mean Franciscan. (But go Ron Perlman!).
And yet, I do keep watching it again ^^;.
