Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Georges F — 05 Oct 2007
Any one who is familiar with the novels of Umberto Eco knows how very difficult it is to transform any of them into a movie script. Annaud had the inspiration of re-imagining the story and making a movie out of it, and yet remain respectful to the novel.
Another bright idea was bringing in Sean Connery to play the detective-monk. The result is a thrilling and fascinating movie.
