Review of The Name of the Rose (1986) by Joanna L — 22 Jan 2010
I have read the book by Umberto Eco and saw the movie with Sean Connery and I think the movie does a very good job in depicting the atmosphere of the book. It sets in medieval times in a monastery where a mystery murder happens.
The movie is interesting on a lot of levels. I really like cinematography, the whole scenery adds to the threatening atmosphere that is constantly present, while at the same time it is at times really beautiful.
A lot of story lines are running in parallel. The movie is still interesting after seeing it many times.
