Review of The Mummy (1959) by Tristan P — 24 Jul 2008
Another masterpiece from Hammer. Fisher's direction is outstanding (surprised?) and the whole film has a kind of greenish, moldy look. Cushing is his usual stalwart hero, but it's Christopher Lee as the massive mummy that steals the show. He wrings more emotion out of the part (watch his eyes!) than most actors can get out of a non-monster role.
A classic!
