Review of The Mummy (1959) by Michael S — 15 Oct 2010
Smashing fun. Peter Cushing talks up a storm as the son of a famed archeologist, possibly targeted for defiling an Egyptian princess' tomb; Christopher Lee mainly stalks around the countryside wrapped in muddy bandages and looking tired all the time (standing upright for four thousand years will do that to you).
Cushing is the motor of the picture, Lee mainly walks stumblingly away, the picture snugly in the palm of his be-wrapped hands. Directed with wonderful brio by Hammer stalwart Terence Fisher.
