Review of The Mummy (1959) by Robert D — 17 Feb 2013
A silly group of archaeologists disturb the tomb of an Egyptian princess. Her lover becomes enraged and rises from the grave as an Egyptian mummy to stalk those who desecrated her tomb. Another loose reproduction of another Universal monster.
This time it's quite better than the first two revivals of 'Frankenstein' and 'Dracula' that hammer tried to do. I really liked the set pieces in this one more than in 'The Curse of Frankenstein' and 'Horror of Dracula'.
Christopher lee once again plays another hammer horror villain. This time as the Mummy. Not sure if he's more threatening than Karloff's version, but he certainly was sillier in Egyptian make-up.
