Review of The Mist (2007) by Jeff L — 01 Oct 2014
An intriguing horror film where the monsters on the outside of a supermarket play second fiddle to the monsters on the inside - i.e. mankind. Whilst some of the broader strokes are obvious i.e. the bible-bashing lunatic, the small town hicks, what I liked about this was that it didn't just settle for who is right and who is wrong: Both sides have their points to be made, and their failings.
Above all, it has some interesting observations on hope and hopelessness, which is pretty deep for a film like. I don't really go for CGI monsters, especially insects (!), but there is one truly terrifying but beautiful scene towards the end.
