Review of The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (1962) by Michael W — 27 Jul 2013
This is often called Ford's greatest western, at least the most emotionally jarring. But I wouldn't call it my favorite. My problem lies in that it tries to establish moral grey areas while clearly defining a line between good and evil.
It's nice to see such complexity explored in a genre known for heroes and villains, but it just feels slightly off. Still a great film nonetheless.
