Review of High Plains Drifter (1973) by Joel M — 13 Jan 2010
The music that is supposed to make everything supernatural is kind of bad - the effect it is going for I appreciate, but the music is just a bit off. The filming is nothing special. Eastwood's silence in this film is just grating as fuck, not intense or grim like in any of the Dollars trilogy films.
The plot is nothing special, a rehash of the defend a town rhetoric present in a film he already participated in. The actors are mostly horrible, all of them kind of clumsily going through lines and humor, e.
G. the dwarf, the sheriff. The barber, hotel manager, and woman who is raped come the closest to not being horribly executed I guess! Just a mediocre film.
