Review of The Man Who Laughs (1928) by Eric L — 31 Jul 2007
The film that inspired the look for The Joker. Conrad Veidt's permanent smile may seem restrictive, but the man certainly knows how to use his eyes to convey emotion. The best element of this film is the relationship between the disfigured protagonist and his blind sweetheart.
Otherwise, nothing special. I didn't care much for the rest of the story.
