Review of The Man Who Laughs (1928) by Bruce W — 02 Jan 2009
A classic for many reasons. The pairing of Mary Philbin and Conrad Veidt is perfect in this heart-wrenching story of a boy disfigured by order of a king for his father's crimes. The make-up is also quite amazing.
Olga Baclanova (Cleopatra in "Freaks") also co-stars in the type of role that she plays beautifully.
