Review of The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) by Gavin W — 19 Jun 2011
Having seen the remake first it was interesting to watch the original. Its easy to see why Hitchcock chose to remake the film because the foundation is here for a brilliant film. This film was made before Hitchcock had mastered his directing style and is lacking in several areas.
The main problem for me was the lack of character development, I found it very hard to follow due to the fast pace of the film, 75 minutes in length compared with 115 minutes for the remake, less is less in this case.
