The old studio system produced a classic & launched what became known as film noir. Bogart is his Bogey'iest here, his BS detector smoking-out the femme fatale - yet to meet Bacall. Interesting that this story had been filmed twice before with little success, then boom .
.. The 2nd remake actually is pretty good and a bit sexier.
