Review of The Magician (1958) by Jacob G — 02 Nov 2010
An excellent rumination on the role of the artist, the critic, and the audience from bergman. and it is a bit contentious of the critic. sandwiched between the 7th seal and his religious trilogy, it is a part of one of the most creative and distinct periods in his career.
has the feeling of the stage at its best, the scene of von sydow manufacturing a feeling in the doctor while he is in the attic is particularly effective.
