Review of The Magdalene Sisters (2002) by Sookie S — 31 Mar 2004
This film is very well done and I can't believe that people haven't talked about it more. I am shocked that for some reason I had never heard of all this going on over in Ireland. Just for that fact alone it was a great history lesson for me.
I thought all the performances in it were very good. I looked up some of the main stars after and for most of them this was like there second or third movie. So I look forward to seeing them in more stuff.
The main nun plays a great villain in this her performance just seems so natural, like this is the way she really is. The directing is also very good there are a few shots that were really well done and very out of the ordinary! This story and the way it's done is perfect in almost every way.
I just can't imagine being in a place like this. My only negative thought is that there isn't much of a sense of time throughout the film. It spans over years and there is really nothing to show that other than there hair grows longer.
So thats the only flaw as far as I'm concerned.
