Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Eos C — 15 Jul 2007
This movie is one of the best of the genre. I didn't know what to expect seeing as I had heard both accolades as well as scathing reviews.
Despite the haters, I was all about this movie. It was incredible. It was black as sin, bleak, depressing and all engrossing. Elliot Gould is the polar opposite of Humphrey Bogart's Philip Marlowe and that in my opinion is fucking fantastic. Humphrey Bogart sucks. He is a douche bag with a face like Huckleberry Hound.
Anyway, Elliot Gould could not have been any cooler. No matter what never giving a fuck about anything, just being a dirt bag, aware that he's a dirt bag.
It should be noted that Arnold Schwarzenegger's uncredited cameo is hilarious. This movie will in essence destroy your brains.
It will make you fall head over heels for Monica and Ross' dad.
