Review of The Long Goodbye (1973) by Mark Z — 22 Dec 2008
Through its casual, understated, "homage-to-L.A." style, Altman's film draws in the patient viewer who can appreciate what he's being presented. Gould is similarly casual as he maneuvers the serio-comic central role through the film's landscape of seedy bars, misfit characters, and palpable tension.
In my opinion, the film is amazing: one of the best examples of the small, unique, "this is my little movie" movies.
