Review of The Light at the Edge of the World (1971) by Steve S — 13 Aug 2009
This is was an unusual film for the time it was released and even as a little kid, I remember thinking how offbeat it was. Pirates seize an entire island with a lighthouse and misguide commercial ships onto the rocks , murder the occupants, and loot the cargo.
I remember the scenes of the pirates slaughtering the passengers made a huge impression on me, even though the violence depicted has been surpassed by even mild action films since. With Yul Brynner, Kirk Douglas, and Fernando Rey -Alain Charnier in The French Connection.
