The only interesting aspect of this film is the look at the history of visual effects. There is no story here beyond a series of excuses to show off some, at the time, ground-breaking visuals. There is no character here and the dialogue is absolutely cheesy.
Infact, the entire feature is cheesy. The visuals are incredibly dated and painful to watch, there is no emotion in Kong's performance. The only reason this movie is held in such high regard is due to pure nostalgia.
This film is no different than the heartless, storyless CGI extravaganzas we have today. Nostalgia truly warps people's minds. Only watch this if you are interested in the history and development of visual effects.
