Review of The Leopard (1963) by Amber K — 01 Jan 2011
A masterpiece on both the large and small scale. It manages to be epic without being over the top. Its intimacies are subtle, and you have to be paying attention to pick them up. It examines the social order in wonderful detail.
Much of the film looks like a series of oil paintings coming to life. Lancaster is majestic.
