Although The Lego Ninjago Movie failed to performed well on critical and box office two years ago, Warner Animation Group continues to produce another Lego movie, The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, which is the direct sequel to 2014’s The Lego Movie with most of the returning characters and casts.
Five years after the events of The Lego Movie, Bricksburg have been turned into a post-apocalyptic wasteland called Apocalypseburg after the town was invaded by the Duplo. Everyone in town has become hardened due to harsh lifestyle except for Emmet Brickowski (Pratt), who remains upbeat and optimistic about life despite the harsh environment.
Emmet continues to have a romance relationship with Lucy/Wyldstyle (Banks) and wanting to start a family life with her in a dream house he built. Despite being optimistic about his plan, he also has a terrible vision about an upcoming terrible event known as ‘Armamageddon’.
Out of nowhere, General Sweet Mayhem, who is the general of Systar System Army and works for Queen Watevra Wa-Nabi (Haddish), kidnap Batman along with Lucy, Benny, MetalBeard, and Unikitty and takes them to Systar system for some unknown purposes. While on his way to rescue them and having difficulty going through the asteroid field, he was rescue by a rugged adventurer named Rex Dangervest (also voiced by Pratt) and both of them have to work together in order to rescue them.
Like the first movie, this movie is really fun and I really enjoyed this movie more than its predecessor. In terms of the story, I think they are fine but what I like more about this movie is the humours. I think the humours in this movie are much funnier than the last movie.
Chris Pratt has never cease to amaze me with his voice acting and he certainly done a very good job in not only for both Lego movies but also voicing two characters. Same goes to the rest of the casts as well. However, having Jason Momoa to reprise his role as Aquaman may seem cool and awesome but it is kind of a wasted role because he has very little lines in the movie and never really do anything other than a cameo appearance.
The animation is quite well done just like the first one. I have also really enjoyed listening to the songs in the movie and it was really nice and funny which will ‘stuck inside your head’ (pun intended). Hopefully unlike the first one, this movie would at least get nominate for Oscars Best Animated Feature Film and nominate again for Best Original Song with possible chances of winning in either category or both. Last but not least, I definitely recommend you should watch this movie.
