Review of The Last Winter (2006) by Derek D — 19 Jul 2009
This film could have been better but the filmmakers seemed, I don't know, lazy, maybe. The idea is that SOMETHING is out there in the arctic tundra, something that is awake now that the permafrost is melting and releasing gases.
..or maybe it is the gas causing hallucinations and erratic behaviour. Or maybe the filmmakers really liked John Carpenter's remake of "The Thing" and wanted to do something similar, hit upon a global warming angle, and thought that this topic sort of sells itself so they didn't have to.
Some promise, and Ron Perlman is always a pleasure to listen to, but really, ultimately, a waste of time with a truly stupid ending.
