Review of The Last King of Scotland (2006) by Andrew L — 11 Mar 2017
Although I'm usually not much into indie movies, I really liked this one. It tells the story of a dictator through the eyes of a fictional character who is inhabited by James McAvoy with earnest gusto.
Forest Whitaker also does a great job of portraying Idi Amin. I wasn't expecting much from this film at first but as soon as McAvoy made it to Uganda, I was dragged into it from start to finish and also made me wonder about what power and corruption can do to a person, especially when as the story progresses, Amin seems to become more and more evil not wanting McAvoy's character to leave.
Overall, this is an independent film that I really enjoyed in spite of not getting as much attention as it should've.
