Review of The Lady Vanishes (1938) by Ross B — 12 Apr 2009
While 'The Lady Vanishes' may not have the polished mystery and suspense of Hitchcockâ??s later films, it's humor and well-rounded characters are perfect. Gilbert and Iris are one of the most delightful on screen would-be lovers. Michael Redgrave plays the quick-witted Gilbert perfectly, and Margaret Lockwood is quite possibly the most attractive woman ever photographed. I leave you with my favorite quote from the film:
"Iris Henderson: You're the most contemptible person I've ever met in all my life!
Gilbert: Confidentially, I think you're a bit of a stinker, too.".
