Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Nate J — 13 Mar 2008
This is possibly one of the finest pieces of work that I can remember in recent memory. Cassavetes' style, combined with under-world themes, methodical plot build-up, a moody funk score, and pure 70's visuals equals pure cinema.
Be sure to watch the 135 min version over the 108 min to really appreciate the pacing of the film.
