Review of The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976) by Cli O — 06 Dec 2008
An underrated 70's crime film that explores a lot of ground that others generally don't. very unconventional in the way of character developement, cinematography, and so on. in that way, it's not as 'easy' as a Coppola film, or a Scorcese film, but it's got as much character as the best work of either man.
Ben Gazzara carries the film in a great performance full of the kind of nuance and self-assuredness you don't see all too often in films.
