Review of The Iron Lady (2011) by Lisa T — 14 Jan 2013
Saw this on paid TV. Though it starts out with a bit of interest, the script quickly gets bogged down trying to twist the tale to a negative political review of her career rather than simply telling her story - good and bad, happy and sad.
It has a disappointing habit of repeatedly visiting her last years when she was suffering from dementia and missing her late husband (irrelevant to her career), and it seems to want to characterize anyone of conservative thought as someone wishing to enrich the rich and ignore the poor (a stubborn liberal lie that continues in its dull drumbeat without interruption).
Streep is always good, but this script isn't deserving of her great talent.
