Review of The Incident (1967) by Gilbert L — 18 Nov 2011
Then newcomers Tony Musante and Martin Sheen are splendid as the couple of hedonists who give an unforgettable night in NYC subway to other, so called normal, but colourful variety of people only trying to get back home.
This subway car carries more than just people, all the prejudices of race, sex, and economical condition, its air is stuffed by a sudden calamity, the tension is real, is palpable, it feels like a time bomb.
If it had been directed by a household name in suspense/sociological dramas like Sidney Lumet, this would be more regarded nowadays for what it really is. A bold, tight, raw study of characters, about the apathy of city people, unable or simply uncaring to give each other a hand in moments of dispair.
