Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Mathias F — 14 Nov 2014
"The Hunger Games" is an innovative, clever and brilliantly executed film that does not only surprise but also moves its audience. The characters are believable and Jennifer Lawrence delivers the best peformance of her career.
Aside from that, the story-line is cohesive and the score is marvelously well conducted to fit the theme, the atmosphere and the mythological universal, which makes up for a near-perfect visual/audiovisual experience.
The movie ends on a high note and manages to stay true to the novels. The only sad thing about this film is that it had to end, but hopefully we'll get to see much more when "Catching Fire" hits the theatres in 2013.
All in all "The Hunger Games" is a complex and gradifying treat, which - thus far - is the forerunner to win the oscar for "best film" and "best score" - and it really deserves to take away those an even more prestigious prices!
