Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Rayne B — 05 Dec 2018
They are forced to put their lives on the line for others entertainment. The movie The Hunger Games is an action, thriller, directed by Gary Ross, tells the story of a teenage girl named Katniss Everdeen who is chosen to compete in games where she must kill the other competitors to be the last person to survive. Katniss meets this boy from her District named Peeta, and they become friends. Before she competes, she must impress the citizens of the Capital so Katniss can get support from them once she fights. Within the movie, it explains the relationships between the Capitol and the Districts. The movie can become gory mostly when the people from each of the Districts attack and kill each other.
The movie points out the differences between the people that live in the Districts and the people that live in the Capitol. Every person from each District is fighting for their lives and attempt making their Districts proud, but are unhappily picked to kill others. However, the citizens of the Capitol watch them fight for their entertainment. The people that live in the Districts are deprived, and guards watch them strictly. In the Capitol, the people are dressed colorfully and live in grand houses, and unlike the people that live in the Districts, the people that live in the Capitol have privileges like electricity that the Districts do not have.
During most of the movie, there is lots of death and gore. At the beginning of the fight is when there was the most gore as everyone reaches for weapons and supplies. Throughout the battle, plenty of deaths occur, and the participants face obstacles that the leaders of the Capitol place on them during the middle of fights. While most of the competitors have teamed together, Katniss is by her lonesome throughout most of the movie.
The overall movie is enjoyable for people that like gore and action. This movie would also be recommended to Young Adults because the movie becomes mature in some parts of the movie. The plot flows throughout the movie exceptionally and connects each scene of the movie so that the watchers can easily follow the entire storyline without getting lost.
Rating: 5/5.
