Review of The Hunger Games (2012) by Emma F — 13 May 2016
The Hunger Games (2012) ?? 1/2.
Bleak future tells tale of Katniss Everdeen and her part in the Hunger Games, a televised competition in which teenagers from each of 12 Districts of the world are chosen at random to fight-to the death. Faithful to Suzanne Collins' popular novel, and well cast (Lawrence is quite good), but uninspired, unsubtle, and too long. It's also tricky to make this story work into a PG-13 rated film (violence like this demands proper artistry-and not tweaked for a tween audience). Still it's hard to take your eyes off the screen, and the cast carries it along further than you may expect.
