Review of The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939) by Andrey B — 07 Mar 2018
A beautifully dark film with the priceless performance by Charles Laughton which deserved an Oscar if it were not for Robert Donat's exquisite portrayal of Mr. Chipping. This is the kind of performance which comes to min when you quickly try to compile a "best-ever" list.
The adaptation itself is worthy of its predecessor of 1923.
