Review of The Hudsucker Proxy (1994) by Matthew K — 14 Apr 2009
Hudsucker is strange in that it's a Coen brothers movie that doesn't look like a Coen brothers movie. In aesthetic and tone this errs more towards some of Tim Burton's lighter work. This is not to say the film should be dismissed; Robbins and Newman are excellent, Leigh turns in an entertainingly oddball performance, the heightened production design is first rate, and the brothers should be commended for trying something a little different to their usual fare.
Well worth a look.
