Review of The Host (2006) by Pablo C — 24 Mar 2013
Sometimes funny, sometimes intense, but always entertaining, this film from Korea makes most modern American horror movies look like giant turds taken by the monstrous creature in this movie, not to mention it's also a touching family story and a biting satire of the American government.
Beat that Saw movies! The movie also has good monster effects, even better cinematography, a creepy musical score, and a winning performance by Kang-ho Song as a grieving but dim-witted father. It's mostly to his credit that the movie can use crying to generate both heartfelt sympathy and side-splitting laughter from the audience.
