Review of The Host (2006) by Ky K — 09 Apr 2015
The acting, directing, and family drama makes this a unique monster movie, and makes it superior to another monster movie that tried to do the same (Godzilla 2014). The problem is the monster stuff is forgettable.
It's sort of like the reverse problem of a Godzilla movie where the characters are forgettable and paper thin, but the monster is fantastic. In The Host, the characters are layered, but the monster is boring.
I suppose that's okay because the movie was highly entertaining, but it makes this movie less likely for me to watch more than once. Definitely would recommend though.
